Development Objective
The overarching goal for the Assam transportation sector support is to “provide green transportation and climate resilient roads and bridges infrastructure and integrate smallholding farmers and tribal communities in Assam with the Southeast and South Asian markets.” The overarching goal will be achieved by implementing a Series of Operations (SOPs).
SOP 1: The PDO for the Assam Resilient Rural Bridges Program (P178581), approved on March 2, 2024 is to build green, inclusive, and resilient connectivity in rural Assam and strengthen the Assam Public Works Roads Department’s roads and bridges management capability.
SOP 2: The PDO for the proposed Assam Disaster Resilient Hill Roads Development Project (P180672) is to enhance climate disaster resilience of hill roads and promote green and inclusive market access in selected hill areas of Assam.
