ZANZIBAR BASIC EDUCATION IMPROVEMENT PROJECT

Supply of Library and Reference Books for "A" and "O" Levels
1. This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in Development Business issue NO. WB 2094-728/08 of 16th June, 2008
2. The Government of The United Republic of Tanzania has received a Credit from the International Development Association (IDA) toward the cost of Zanzibar Basic Education Improvement Project and intends to apply part of the credit proceeds for payments under the contract for Supply of Textbooks for Zanzibar Secondary Schools, under Zanzibar Basic Education Improvement Project (MoEVT/ZABEIP/G/3(a))
- The Principal Secretary, Ministry of Education and Vocational Training now invites Sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for Supply of the following goods:

4. Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines of May 2004 and May 2010: Procurement under IBRD Loans andIDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as definedin the Guidelines
5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the Secretary, Ministerial Tender Board P.O Box 394 Zanzibar from 7.30 to 15.30 hours local time from Mondays to Fridays inclusive, except on public holidays, or e-mail: edumajenzi@zanzinet.com.
6. Qualifications requirements include:
- Experience of the supplier in delivering the required volume of goodswithin the Region or alike.
A margin of preference for certain goods manufactured domestically shall not be applied. Additional details are provided in the Bidding Documents.
7. A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a writtenApplication to the address below and upon payment of a non refundablefee of Tanzanian Shillings One hundred thousands only (TZS. 100,000/=), or its equivalent in any convertible currency. The method of payment will be by Banker's Draft, Banker's Cheque or cash payable to the Principal Secretary, Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, Zanzibar.
The Bidding Documents will be sent by post or courier. The cost of courier shall be the responsibility of the supplier.
8. Bids must be delivered to the address below at or before 11:00 hrs on 4th May 2011
Electronic bidding shall not be permitted. Late bids shall be rejected. Bids shall be opened immediately thereafter in the presence of the bidders' representatives, who choose to attend in person at the address below at 11.30 hrs on 4th May 2011

Bids MUST be accompanied by an "Original Bid Security" in an acceptable form as described in the Bidding Document amounting to at least 2.0 % of the bid price.
