A Joint Initiative of the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank
BACKGROUND
The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the World Bank (WB) are working on a Full Mutual Reliance Framework (FMRF) for selected co-financed projects.
This initiative is expected to reduce administrative burdens, increase efficiency and scale, and accelerate results for our borrowing countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. For projects processed under this framework, one of the two institutions will serve as ‘lead lender’ in charge of the preparation and supervision of a co-financed FMRF project. The lead lender’s operational policies and procedures will apply. More information is available in this presentation.
STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT
The IDB and WB will host two joint dialogue sessions with civil society as the Framework is being developed. These sessions will provide an early opportunity to share information about the Framework’s objectives, scope, and development timeline, and to create space for questions and initial feedback from civil society organizations.
- Thursday, March 19, 2026 | 2:00 – 3:30 PM ET.
- Thursday, April 30, 2026 | 10:00 - 11:30 AM ET. Please RSVP here
Representatives from both institutions will join the discussion. Both sessions will be fully virtual via Zoom, and will be stream in English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French.
