Afghanistan’s largest hydropower plant has restarted operations of one of its four turbines after a hiatus of six years, marking a significant milestone in the country’s hydropower development.
On May 15, 2002, James Wolfensohn, the World Bank Group President at that time, officially reopened the World Bank Office in Kabul after 23 years of the office being closed.
Afghanistan’s largest hydropower plant, the Naghlu Hydropower Plant, has restarted the operations of one of its turbines. The newly rehabilitated turbine has the capacity to generate 25 MW electricity and is connected to Afghanistan’s national grid.
