In 2018, the Egyptian government launched a national education reform program which is being supported by the World Bank, and several milestones have been already achieved, with more to come.
As an early adopter of the World Bank’s Human Capital Project, Egypt is stepping up its efforts in this area. The World Bank is partnering with Egypt to raise the quality of health and education services, and to expand the reach to social safety nets.
The US$ 500 million project supports Egypt’s public Education reform efforts, which aim to teach students the skills they need to be relevant to the country’s job market when they enter it in the mid-2030s.
As a result of Egypt's bold reform program, the economy has stabilized, and growth has recovered. Nevertheless, the reforms have also caused hardships for the most poor and vulnerable segment of the population.
Supporting Egypt Education Reform Project will expand access to quality Kindergarten for around 500,000 children, train 500,000 teachers and education officials, while providing 1.5 million students and teachers with digital learning resources.
The Egyptian government and the World Bank signed an agreement today for the US$500 million Supporting Egypt Education Reform project, which aims to improve teaching and learning conditions in Egypt’s public education system.
The World Bank announced today a new US$500 million investment in Egypt’s education reforms, to support increasing access to quality Kindergarten education, improving the quality of learning and adopting technology as a vehicle to achieve the reform objectives.
