Development Objective
The project's development objectives are to:
(i) strengthen the stat
es' capacity to design and implement sound environmental policies,
regulation and
management, so the states c
an develop and implement their key functions in an integrated manner;
(ii) support the decentralization of environmental management from the
federal to the state/municipal levels;
(iii) promote the cooperation between state environmental agencies
(OEMAs), other state agencies, and the private sector;
(iv) promote environmental awareness, so as to enhance society en
gagement in environmental policy design; and
(v) implement zoning, monitoring and con
trol and enforcement activities in key locations in the states, and
other to
mitigate the major environmental concerns in critical areas.
