Wildlife and Livestock Utilization

This is a Regional (Tanzania and Bostwana) GEF Medium Size Project being prepared with support form RDV- see for reference the em sent on 04/07/00. GEF BB will be provided and no additional BB will be requested. Extn: 30347 ,, RDV,,,, Subject: Request for a PDF grant for the preparation of a multi-donor regional project on livestock and wildlife interaction Botswana and Tanzania Following my note of February 2, and the successful initial mission organized by USAID and ILRI, I am now attaching, for your review and comments, the request for a PDF grant for the above mentioned project. The concept has been discussed with the respective potential NGO cooperators, GEF focal points and the Environmental and Agricultural Agencies of the countries concerned. A list of the persons met is attached. The proposed activities in Botswana and Tanzania are part of a wider network, which includes also Chad and Zimbabwe, funded respectively by the French government and the Livestock and Environment Initiative (LEAD). Counterpart funding through LEAD for all sites is already secured. PDF funding for the Chad site has already been granted by the Government of France. I am looking forward to your early reactions, and support in transmitting this proposal to the GEF for further processing. I will be on mission, but Jerome Gauthier, who have been closely associated with the preparation of the project, would be here till April 14 to provide you with additional information if needed.
