Abstract*
The HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Project for Guyana is part of the third phase of the Bank's Caribbean Multi-Country HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control Adaptable Program Lending (APL) approved in June 2001. Development Objective
This project intends to slow the increase of HIv infections and mortality due to HIV/AIDS by: (a) Preventing and controlling the transmission of HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs); (b) Prolonging and improving the quality of life of people living with AIDS; and (c) Mitigating the negative impact of HIVIAIDS on persons infected and affected by the disease.
