Madagascar: Nutrition II - Supplemental Credit

Development Objective

The credit would provide supplemental financing to the on-going Second Community Nutrition Project (cr. 3060-MAG) for the extra costs incurred in response to the deterioration in social conditions resulting from the cyclones in 2000, droughts in 2001 and political turbulence after the recent elections in 2002. A supplemental credit is necessary to replenish funds for the project to finish its planned activities and to achieve its development objective.PROJECT components remain the following(I) SCHOOL HEALTH AND NUTRITION; (II) IMPROVED MANAGEMENT OF MALNUTRITION AT DISTRICT HEALTH SERVICES; (III) COMMUNITY NUTRITION ACTIVITIES IN VILLAGES; AND (IV) DIVERSIFICATION OF FOOD PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION.
