BAM EARTHQUAKE EMERGENCY RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT

Development Objective

The proposed project would finance the reconstruction program of areas affected by Bam Earthquake, which took place on December 26, 2003, and Government's efforts in strengthening its emergency response system. The project will focus on the reconstruction of the social and economic infrastructure in Bam as well as the private housing damaged as a result of the quake. 02/24/04. Government request for the project received today. Damage assessment/identification mission completed in February 2004. Damage assessment report shared with the Government. Two preparation missions are planned (March and April) to be followed by an appraisal mission in May 2004. 02/27/04. PCD issued today for Ad-hoc Committee to be held on March 2, 2004. First preparation mission scheduled for March 6-16, 2004. 03/25/04. Appraisal/Negotiations planned for May 2004 in the field. 07/12/04. The preappraisal mission starting on June 18, 2004 is expected to be converted to an appraisal mission. 09/07/04. Negotiations were held in Paris August 25-27, 2004. Three conditions are expected to be met prior to Board approval. 11/01/04. Task Team Leader has been changed from Sateh El-Arnaout to Robert Maurer following Board approval on October 28, 2004. 3/6/09. As per Sector Manager's instructions, Task Team Leader changed from Robert Maurer (UPI#20702) to Rosanna Nitti (UPI#190551). 10/07/2009. Task Team Leader changed from Rosanna Nitti to Soraya Goga, as instructed by the SM, Anna Bjerde, on September 29, 2009. 12/1/09. Loan closed 5/31/09. OPCS has approved today the extension of the deadline for issue of ICR from 11/30/2009 to 6/30/2010. TTL will confirm whether this is intensive learning ICR. Borrower requested an extension to issue their contribution to the ICR, which is now expected end-January 2010. Task Team Leader changed from Soraya Goga to Christianna Johnnides (UPI#157243) for delivery of the ICR.
