Abstract*

The objective of the General Education Quality Improvement Program Project (GEQIP) for Ethiopia is to improve the quality of general education throughout the country. The Program will be monitored closely through a set of key performance indicators. The first phase of the GEQIP will also support the development of a robust monitoring and evaluation sub-component, and will assist the Ministry of Education (MOE) in further improving the existing education...

Development Objective

The development objective of the Program is to improve the quality of general education (Grades 1-12) throughout the country. The development objectives of Phase 1 of the GEQIP (2009-2013) are to: (i) improve teaching and learning conditions in primary and secondary education; and (ii) improve management planning and budget capacity of the Ministry of Education and Regional Bureaus of Education.
