Additional Financing for the National Protected Areas Project

The objective is to promote the consolidation and long-term sustainability of Co lombia's National Protected Areas System (NPAS) through designing and implementi ng a Protected Areas Conservation Trust Fund.The project will continue to promote the consolidation and long-term sustainability of Colombia's National Protected Areas System (NPAS) through designing and implementing a Protected Area Conservation Trust Fund. This fund will finance NPAS,which includes National Natural Parks, Regional natural Parks, Private natural Reserves, Indigenous Reserves and Buffer zones of NPs.Resources will continue finance the following priorities:(i) The execution of Management Plans (MPs) through the NPAs (ii) Participate buffer zone management and connectivity between conservation areas, promoting sustainable land use and production systems with local communities; (iii) Broad stakeholder participation and co-management between government and ethnic authorities in NPs and surroundings indigenous reservations, and (iv) Financial mechanisms and market-based incentives for biodiversity conservation in private lands.
