Comment | On June 2009, nearly 279,000 IDPs were housed in government camps pending return and resettlement in their villages of origin. Theproject expects to reach 100,000 people after their return to help reestablish their livelihoods. | The Government has resettled a total of 476,013 people in 284 Grama Niladhari divisions. These include 140,000 IDPs who lived inGovernment's welfare camps in Vavuniya at the time of project approval in December 2009. The target has therefore been achievedand in fact exceeded.
