The overall objective of the Project is to support the Government of Ghana to develop in partnership with stakeholders a national urban agenda focused on inclusive urban development policies and strategies. To achieve the overall objective, other sub objectives have been formulated and they are as follows:1. Strengthen the institutional capacity of the Urban Development Unit (UDU) of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) to effectively lead and promote the emerging national urban agenda.2. Support the development and institutionalization of the National Urban Forum to enhance policy dialogue between national government, local governments, community representatives, civil society and other stakeholders.3. Enhance the policy debate through research into defined urban issues identified at the National Urban Forum.4. Increase public and political awareness of the importance of 'inclusivity' as a core principle and local government capacity to plan and manage successful urban growth and development through south-south exchanges.5. Strengthen partnerships, effectiveness and efficiency in the urban sector through the establishment of a Steering and Advisory Committee.
