Abstract*
The development objective of the Scaling Second Solar Independent Power Producer (IPP) Project for Uzbekistan is to increase renewable energy generation through private-sector participation in Uzbekistan. The project component is construction and operation of two 220-MW solar power plants at each of Jizzakh and Samarkand, and purchase by the sovereign off-taker (NEGU) of electricity from these plants, supported through IBRD project-based payment guarantees.
