Objetivo de Desenvolvimento
1. Reducing the severe infrastructure bottlenec ks in water supply that impede economic growth in order (a) to increase employment and incomes by eliminating the paramount constraint to development; and (b) to reduce the distress of the urban population caused by in sufficient and intermittent water supplies, which are barely enough to meet their basic needs;2. Improving the environment by ending the over-extraction of grou ndwater and the subsequent drying of surface streams and land subsidence, and by treating all waste, so as to reduce water pollution downstream; and3. Promoting integrated management and financial independence for water institutions in order to create a system to rati onalize water use, by sector, and reduce water shortages by managing demand.
