TITLE: SUPPLY OF PIPES & FITTINGS FOR ASSOSA TOWN

1. This invitation for Bids follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business Web Site, on November 24, 2004.

2. The Government of Ethiopia has received a Credit from International Development Association towards the cost of Water Supply and Sanitation Project, and it intends to apply part of the proceeds of this Credit to payments under the contract for supply of pipes and fittings.

3. The Assosa Town Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprise now invites sealed bids from qualified eligible bidders for supply of pipes and fittings.

4. Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and are open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5. Interested eligible bidders may obtain further information from the Assosa Town Water Supply and Sewerage Enterprise, Assosa. The Bidders may inspect the bidding document at the address given below on No-10 during working hours (Morning from 8:30am up to12:30am Afternoon from 1:30pm up to 5:30pm).

6. Qualifications requirements include:

  1. The Bidder shall furnish audited financial statement of the firm for the last three years to confirm of a financial turnover of at least two times the bid price.
  2.   Bidder should have the experience on supplying at least two contracts similar size and nature in the last three years, supported with names of clients, type and value of contracts.
  3. Product ISO authorization should be attached to the document in compliance to the specification.

7.   A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by the interested bidders on the submission of a written application from Water Resources Development Fund, Addis Ababa, Ministry of Water and Energy, Haile Gebreselasse street,Telephone number +251-663-8082 and upon payment of a non-refundable fee of ETB 300.00 or equivalent freely convertible currency. The method of payment will be in cash or check against receipt.

8. Bids must be delivered to the address: Water Resources DevelopmentFund, Addis Ababa, Ministry of Water and Energy, Haile Gebreselasse street,Telephone number +251-663-8082Room-No 602Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at or before 2:00 p.m on 18th day of April 2011. Electronic bidding shall not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected.

9. Bids will be opened physically in the presence of the bidders or their  representatives, who choose to attend in person at the Water Resources Development Fund, Addis Ababa, Ministry of Water and Energy, Haile Gebreselasse street,Telephone number +251-663-8082 Room-No 602, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia at 2:30 p.m on 18th day of April, 2011. All bids shall be accompanied by a Bid Security of ETB 100,000.00 (Birr One hundred thousands) or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency in the form of CPO or Bank Guarantee. The bid validity period is 120 days.
