Expressions of Interest

 

This request for expression of interest follows the general procurement notice for this project that appeared in Development Business, issue no.741, 31 December 2008.

The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has received a credit from the International Development Association (IDA), and intends to apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments under the contract for consultancy service on Topographic Survey in Lake Tana Sub-basin Flood plain Areas under Tana & Beles Integrated Water Resource Development Project.

 

The main objectives of the topographic survey are:

  • To prepare detailed topographic map (large scale contour map) that will help to identify the existing nature of all the flood plain features, including specific landscape values that may be affected by different level of floods. This work will support accurate flood plain modeling.

·         To identify every detail spot contours that improves the quality of risk maps 

The detailed activities should include but not limited to the following activities:

 

·         Site description including plan number, lot number, and district lot

·         Location map at appropriate scale indicating the regional setting.

·         Site map at appropriate scale indicating the layout of project components and activities. 

·         Controls, vertical and horizontal references

·         Site profiles and cross sections in sufficient number to demonstrate terrain conditions have to be prepared.

·         Site plans/ sketches/ color photographs indicating project location, site features and activities identified in relation to easily identifiable landmarks such as those found on accompanying maps.

·         Proximity to designated environmentally sensitive areas such as thosepreviously identified including aquatic, terrestrial and hillside areas, watercourses and updated sensitive ecosystem inventory locations.

·         All image and data sources will be appropriately referenced and clearly indicate the date when this information was developed to certify that the most up-to-date

  • Information available was used in completing the relevant assessments

 

The services are expected to start on 31/08/12.

 

The Ethiopian Ministry of Water & Energy, Tana & Beles Integrated Water Resource Development Project now invites eligible consultants to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services providing the following:

·         core business,

·         years of experience in the business,

·         qualifications of the firm in the field of the assignment,

·         experience in similar conditions,

·         technical and managerial capabilities of the firm,

·         number of key professional staff in the firm,

·         availability of appropriate skills among staff,

·         administrative and financial strength and

·         Attach client references if any). Consultants may associate to enhance their qualifications.

A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World Bank's Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers, May 2004, revised October 2006 & May 1, 2010.
