Position Title:   Lab Technician / Engineer

Reference No: KI-MFMRD- 451256-CS-INDV

The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Pacific Regional Oceanscape Program (PROP) and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.  

The consulting services (“the Services”) include a Lab Technician / Engineer to assist and support the Director to ensure that all analytical instrument, tools and equipment are well maintained to facilitate effective and efficient analytical testing.

The contract for the above position will be for an initial period of one year, and may be extended for up to 7 months (end of the Project in June 2026), but will be absorbed by the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development for sustainability.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development (MFMRD) now invites eligible individuals (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services.

Interested Consultants should provide:

  1. A brief covering letter introducing yourself and explaining why you are interested in this post (maximum 1 page).
  2. A resume (CV) showing personal details, work experience, and education, along with the names of three work related references (maximum 3 pages).
  3. A claim for the position (with each essential and desirable criterion as a sub-heading as in the TOR) that addresses how your experience is applicable to each criterion and providing examples relevant to the post’s key tasks and responsibilities (maximum 4 pages).

The criteria for selecting the Lab Technician (Engineer) are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical and/or electrical engineering/Laboratory engineering/Seafood Science/Marine Science/Food Science and Safety/Microbiology and other related fields.
  • 3 years of relevant work experience in any fields related to laboratory engineering.

Laboratory analysis, Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) Course or HACCP Awareness, Leadership, other relevant trainings. The attention of interested Consultants (including firms) is drawn to paragraph 3.14, 3.16 and 3.17 of the World Bank’s Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers (“the Regulations”) dated November 2023, setting forth the World Bank’s policy on conflict of interest.
