ADVERTISEMENT – Job Vacancy
The Solomon Islands Agriculture and Rural Transformation (SIART) Project, funded by the World Bank under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAL), is seeking expressions of interest for the position of Project Manager.
The SIART Project aims to increase agricultural production and improve market access in selected value chains in Guadalcanal, Malaita, and Makira/Ulawa. The project also ensures a prompt and effective response in the event of an eligible crisis or emergency. The project consists of four components:
- Component 1: Agribusiness and Infrastructure Investments
- Component 2: Institutional Capacity Development
- Component 3: Project Management
- Component 4: Contingent Emergency Response
The Project Management Unit (PMU) is responsible for coordinating and implementing the SIART Project. The vacancy details are as follows:

Position Title: Project Manager
Location: Honiara
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A master’s degree in agriculture, Rural Development, Management, Business Administration, or any other relevant field (e.g., Engineering, Social Sciences, Climate Change, etc.).
- At least 6 years proven experience in a project management position with similar responsibilities.
- Must be familiar with Microsoft office suite – MS Excel, MS Word, MS Power Point, etc.
- Fluent in English, excellent writing skills, and ability to prepare clear, concise reports.
- At least 6 years of operational/implementation experience with projects funded by international donors (e.g., WB, ADB, EU, DFAT).
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, deliver outputs/results, and identify/resolve implementation issues at an early stage.
- Excellent understanding of government procedures and processes, with the ability to work effectively with a range of agencies at national, provincial, and local levels.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to deliver clear and structured presentations to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain an effective project team
- Good knowledge of Solomon Islands agriculture and rural areas is an advantage.
- Be willing to and able to travel to project areas as work requires.
