ENERGY SECTOR RECOVERY PROJECT

CREDIT No. 4572-KE

Purchase of Insulators

IFB No. KP1/6E/2/A26

1.  This Invitation for Bids follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in dg Market of 01/04/2009.

2.   The Government of the Republic of Kenya has received a credit from the International          Development Association toward the cost of Energy Sector Recovery Project and it intends to  apply part of the proceeds of this credit to payments underthe Contract for Purchase of Insulators.

3.   The Kenya Power & Lighting Co. Ltd now invites sealed bids from eligible and qualified bidders for Supply of Insulators.

(a)    INSULATOR SHACKLE LV                                             500,000

(b)   INSULATOR STAY LV/11kV  PORCELAIN                   200,000

(c)    INSULATOR STAY 33KV                                                   25,000

(d)   COMPOSITE INSULATOR 11KV SUSP.TENSION          20,000

(e)    COMPOSITE INSULATOR 33KV SUSP.TENSION          12,000

 

4.   Bidding will be conducted through the International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procedures specified in the World Bank's Guidelines: Procurement under IBRD Loans and IDA Credits, and is open to all bidders from Eligible Source Countries as defined in the Guidelines.

5.          Bidders may obtain further information from The Kenya Power and Lighting Company Limited and inspect the Bidding Documents at the address given below from 0900 to 1600 hours, Monday to Friday excluding public holidays.

6.         Qualificationsrequirements include:

             I.       The bidder shall furnish documentary evidence that it has access to credit or liquid asset of upto US$ 200,000. This may be in the form of a letter from the bidder's bankers.

          II.      The bidder shall furnish documentary evidence that the manufacturer has supplied similar quantitiesoutside the country of manufacture in the last 5 years.

     III. Valid ISO 9001 certificate orequivalent Quality Assurance Certification for the                          

          Manufacturer of Goods shall be required.

 

7.         A complete set of Bidding Documents in English may be purchased by interested bidders on the submission of a written Application to the address belowand upon payment of a non-refundable fee of US$ 50 OR Kshs4,000.  The method of payment will be Bankers Cheque in favour of KPLC Ltd or paid in cash in Chief Accountant Office, 1st Floor, Stima Plaza, Kolobot Road. The Bidding Documents will be sent by Courier if requested and the bidder will meet the cost.

8.         Bids mustbe delivered to the address below at or before 25th January 2013 at 10.00 am. Electronic bidding will not be permitted. Late bids will be rejected. Bids will be opened in the presence of the bidders' representatives who choose to attend in person at the address below at 10.00 am.  All bidsmust be accompanied by a Bid Security of at least US$30,000 or an equivalent amount in a freely convertible currency.
